MANON DE SOOS
After studying photography and working as an assistant for photojournalists in Paris, Manon decided in 2016 to leave for Nepal—a country devastated by a recent earthquake, whose reconstruction she wanted to document. This marked the creation of her first photo reportage and led to her meeting filmmaker Eric Valli, for whom she would later work as an assistant on his feature film Nepal Beyond the Clouds.
Manon became a photographer through encounters with faces and at the crossroads of the paths that guided her. She learned by confronting the many terrains she explored, including the most hostile ones.

Upon returning to Paris, she chose to continue her training in cinematography at Gobelins.
After graduating, she rekindled her passion for travel, which led her—camera on shoulder—across Europe and all the way to the edges of India and the Himalayas, to which she has returned ever since.
In between:
short and medium-length films, countless photographs, reportages, encounters, and tireless solitary walks.
Manon now lives on the island of Yeu, where she is finalizing the production of her first feature film, a docu-fiction about women, filmed in several countries across Europe and Asia.
At the same time, she is completing a psychotherapy training program in Paris and is opening her practice as a mind–body therapist on the island.
Après des études de photographie et avoir travaillé comme assistante pour des photographes-reporters à Paris, Manon décide de partir en 2016 pour le Népal, pays dévasté par un récent tremblement de terre et dont elle veut capturer la reconstruction. C'est ainsi qu'elle réalise son premier reportage photo et qu'elle fait la rencontre du réalisateur Eric Valli dont elle deviendra l'assistante pour son long-métrage Népal par-delà les nuages.

Manon devient photographe à la rencontre de ces visages et à la croisée des sentiers qui la guident et elle apprend en se confrontant aux terrains qu'elle aborde, jusqu'aux plus hostiles.

Elle décide, dès son retour à Paris de poursuivre une formation au métier de chef-opérateur aux Gobelins.
Diplômée, elle peut ainsi reprendre sa passion pour les départs qui lui vaudront de parcourir, caméra à l'épaule, toute l'Europe jusqu'aux confins de l'Inde et de l'Himalaya où elle ne cessera de se rendre depuis lors.
Entre temps des courts et moyens-métrages, des photographies en nombre, des reportages des rencontres et d'infatigables marches en solitaire.

Manon est aujourd'hui installée sur l'île d'Yeu où elle finalise la production de son premier long-métrage, un docu fiction sur es femmes tourné dans plusieurs pays d'Europe et d'Asie.
​
Parallèlement, elle termine un cycle de formation au sein d'une école de psychothérapie à Paris et ouvre son cabinet en tant que thérapeute psycho-corporelle sur l'île.
